POLICY TITLE: GENERAL MANAGEMENT
RESCINDS: RULES 7.17, 7.20, 7.30
1.0 PURPOSE
This policy is established to provide direction and identify the philosophy for managing the affairs of Yakima County Fire District 12. The District shall provide for the protection of life and property to the citizens of the District in an efficient and disciplined manner.
2.0 DEFINITIONS
The definitions of terminology for the Department are included in Attachment A.
3.0 POLICY AND PROCEDURES
The Department shall provide a policy and procedure system that provides personnel standards for decision making under ordinary circumstances. The direction is intended to enhance and encourage members to exercise judgment and initiative.
4.0 DIRECTIVES CARRY THE EFFECT OF POLICY
All directives that may be issued hereafter, relative to the discipline, duties, and requirements of members, shall have the equal force and effect of policy.
5.0 MEMBERS TO ADHERE TO DEPARTMENT REQUIREMENTS
Policy, procedures and other directives shall be adhered to by all members of the Department. Members are expected to conduct themselves at all times in a manner consistent with behavior acceptable for public servants.
6.0 MAINTAIN KNOWLEDGE OF POLICY AND PROCEDURES
The Department shall provide the means for members to maintain a continuous knowledge of established policies, procedures, and acceptable behavior. Additions and suggestions by members for managing and providing services shall be encouraged.
7.0 PERSONAL ACCEPTANCE OF GIFTS AND OR REMUNERATION
Offers of gifts, remuneration, or contributions to Department members will be referred to the Fire Chief. Members are prohibited from receiving any personal reward or remuneration of any kind for services rendered in the discharge of duties.
8.0 POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT PROHIBITED
Solicitations or distribution of campaign literature is prohibited on Fire Department property. Speakers will be allowed by invitation only.
